Detailed Description |
Cleaning rooms and other areas in the hotel. You will be required to vacuum, dust, sweep, change linens, and sanitize bathrooms. |
English Requirement |
Conversational English is required for this job. If you arrive to your employer and you do not have conversational English, you will not be offered this position. |
Required Job Training |
You will receive training from your employer upon arrival to Econo Lodge Hotel. |
Salary |
$8.00/per hour |
Hours |
35 hours per week |
Overtime |
You will have the possibility to work overtime at the rate of $12.00 per hour. Overtime is determined by the need of the employer and the work performance of the employee. |
Expected Schedule |
All employees will be given a schedule upon arrival to the employer. |
Dress Code |
Uniforms will be distributed when you arrive at the hotel. |
Housing |
Housing is available for $40.00 per week for each employee and will be at the hotel where you will be working. A security deposit of $100.00 is due upon arrival and will be returned at the end of your contract as long as the room is in good condition. |
Transportation to work |
You will be living in the area where you will be working and you will be able to walk to work. |
Location of job and housing |
You will be living on the property of the Econo Lodge Hotel in rooms with 1 to 2 other students. |
Paycheck Info. |
Your paycheck will be delivered every Tuesday by your manager. |
Final Paycheck |
Your final paycheck will be sent via mail to your home address in your home country. |
Possibility of a Second Job |
You may have a second job as long as it does not interfere with your primary work schedule. |
Weather |
The average daytime temperature during the winter in Lake Placid is between 20 and 30 degrees Fahrenheit. |

Transportation from Airport |
You will find it easiest to fly to JFK Airport. Once you arrive to the airport, the easiest and most direct way to get to Lake Placid is to take a flight to Albany Airport. You can go to www.travelocity.com to find one way flights from JFK to Albany International Airport. Please arrange to arrive in Albany before 12:00pm as you will need to get on the Adironkack Trailways bus to Lake Placid, New York. This bus runs daily at 1:50pm and costs $32.00 per person/one way. You may also take a bus directly from JFK to Lake Placid at a cost of $69.00/one way. The bus ride is 7 ½ hours long and leaves once a day in the morning. Go to www.trailwaysny.com for more information. Your employer will arrange to pick you up from the bus stop as long as your home country agent has sent your travel information to United Work and Travel at least one (1) week prior to your arrival in the USA. Please be aware that if you do not arrive in Lake Placid during business hours which are Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:00pm, you will be responsible for paying for a hotel, motel, or youth hostel until the next business day. |
